Every figure here is counted from the votes and can be checked against the board above.

What does a “draw” mean here?

A tie — two or more Ganpati finishing on exactly the same points, with nothing between them. It is not a lottery and not a prize of its own. It happened fifteen times this year, involving 35 Ganpati, and in every case both are paid the same amount: no tie falls across the line between two prize amounts, so no tie was ever broken to pay one Ganpati less than an equal one.

Then what decides who is listed first when two are level?

Rule 4: more verified votes ranks higher, then Instagram likes on the tagged post, then whoever reached those points first. That settles the order on the list. It never settles the money — the amounts are already equal.

Votes or points — which decides it?

Points. A vote from someone who verified their email counts 5 points; an unverified vote counts 1. So an entry with fewer votes can rank above one with more, and both numbers are shown for every winner so the arithmetic is yours to check.

You promised ₹16,000. What is actually being paid?

₹16,194, and every rupee of it goes to Ganpati. Only ₹6,000 of that was ever promised to named places — ₹1,000 each to the top three of both contests. We are paying the whole advertised total and ₹194 over it, and it reaches 74 Ganpati instead of the 6 that were promised anything. Nobody promised something receives less: the top three were promised ₹1,000 and receive ₹1,011 or ₹1,001.

How is the ₹16,194 split?

By rank, identically in both contests: ₹1,011 to first, ₹1,001 to second and third, ₹551 to fourth through sixth, ₹251 to seventh through ninth, and ₹101 to every home Ganpati from tenth to sixty-seventh. 7 mandals and 67 home Ganpati are paid. Every mandal that qualified wins something.

Why do so many more home Ganpati win than mandals?

Because far more entered. 548 home Ganpati took part and 104 qualified; 18 mandals took part and 7 qualified. The mandal list simply runs out — there is no eighth mandal to pay. The amounts are the same in both.

Why is it called a shagun, and why do the amounts end in 1?

A shagun is money given as a blessing rather than as payment, and it carries the one on the end — ₹1,011, ₹101 — which is why none of these figures is round. It is offered with respect for ten days of a committee’s work, not as a valuation of anybody’s Bappa. Rounding to ₹1,000 and ₹550 would have been tidier and ₹74 cheaper.

I won. How do I get paid?

Open your Ganpati’s page and press “Get your shagun”. It walks you through your certificate, tagging us, sending your UPI ID and confirming your email. Prizes are paid by UPI within 14 days of being told. We never ask for a UPI PIN, and nobody from us will ever ask you for one.

My count is lower than I remember.

One rule was applied to every entry in both contests: at most 11 votes from one connection in one day. That set aside 3,108 votes across 11 entries. Nothing was deleted — every vote is still in the database, marked “do not count”, and every affected entry was sent its own file.
