About the mandal
Belgaum Mirror describes Zenda Chowk Sarvajanik Ganesh Utsav Mandal as Belagavi's first sarvajanik Ganeshotsav, begun after Lokmanya Tilak set the first bamboo pole of its pandal on 2 September 1905; AllAboutBelgaum gives 1906 for the mandal's founding. The idol was first installed at a grocery shop, moved to open ground in 1954 and to the present Zenda Chowk site in 1980.
