About the mandal

Umarkhadicha Raja was founded in 1947 by the freedom fighter Bal Sangu Patil, and Mumbai Live counts it among the most visited pandals in south Mumbai. Its idol, which has grown from about 10 ft to about 22 ft, stands without support, and no smaller idol is placed in front of it for the main puja. The mandal also celebrates Navratri, and in 2019 it gave help to victims of the Kolhapur and Sangli floods.
