About the mandal

Pudhari describes Salaiwada Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal in Sawantwadi as the first sarvajanik Ganeshotsav in the Konkan. It was started in 1906 by Vishnusheth Saple and Sitaram Sheth Bandekar in response to Tilak's call, and 2025 was its 120th year. The idol is kept for 21 days, and the festival includes daily prayers, devotional songs and lectures.
