Bal Gopal Mitra Mandal, known as Mumbaicha Peshwa or Vile Parlecha Peshwa, was founded in 1989 in Vile Parle (East). It is known for large, fully biodegradable idols; its Instagram describes it as Mumbai's first paper-idol mandal, from 2008. Its 2024 idol, 23 ft tall, was made of used flowers and tissue paper, and that year's theme spread awareness of cybercrime.
