Khairatabad Ganesh

The Sri Ganesh Utsav Committee in Khairatabad was started in 1954 by the freedom fighter S. Sankarayya with a one-foot idol, and the idol grew by about a foot a year. It is regularly among the tallest Ganesh idols in India; in 2024 it stood 70 ft for the festival's 70th year. The festival draws lakhs of devotees over 11 days before immersion in Hussain Sagar, and in 2022 the committee made its first eco-friendly clay idol.
