Keshavji Naik Chawl Ganpati

The Ganeshotsav at Keshavji Naik Chawl in Girgaon began in 1893, after Lokmanya Tilak's call for public celebrations, and ThePrint and the Free Press Journal describe it as Mumbai's oldest public Ganeshotsav. Tilak himself spoke here in 1901. The mandal keeps its traditions simple and largely unchanged, including a day on which women perform all the rituals and aartis. Its idol is about 2 ft tall and eco-friendly, and the festival includes a lecture series.
