Dagdusheth Ganpati

The Dagdusheth Ganpati festival was begun by Dagdusheth Halwai and his wife Laxmibai after they lost their son to plague. The trust counts 2026 as its 134th Ganeshotsav, while Marathi Wikipedia dates the public celebration to 1896. Each year it builds a large temple-replica pandal and runs the National Ganeshotsav competition for mandals. Its social work includes an old-age home at Kondhwa, housing and education for about 400 children, ambulance services and health clinics in tribal areas of Pune district.
