About the mandal
Azad Hind Ganeshotsav Mandal is described by eSakal and Awaz as Satara's first Ganesh mandal, founded in 1907. It is one of Satara's five manache Ganpatis and a symbol of Hindu-Muslim unity, with Muslim office-bearers in its history. Its name draws on Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose's Azad Hind.
