Aajoba Ganpati

Aajoba Ganpati in Shukrawar Peth, Solapur, was started in 1885 by activists, and eSakal describes it as India's first public Ganeshotsav mandal, a claim other cities also make. It is linked to social awakening and the freedom movement, and was renamed Shraddhanand Samaj in honour of Swami Shraddhanand. A trust formed in 1985 built its temple, and in 2026 the state Cultural Directorate held a cultural festival there.
